After years of plotting and planning, we are excited that phase 2 of construction on the Ahascragh distillery has begun. We are delighted to be working with an expert team including locals, Liam Loughrey BE C Eng and McCormack Construction, alongside Organic Architects and MW Solutions.
We’ve had a busy few weeks. Earlier this Summer, Minister Charlie McConalogue and Minister Anne Rabbitte officially launched the project; The Old Mill Shop & Café opened its doors to locals and visitors; and we released our Family Bond series, Clan Colla Irish Whiskey and Xin Gin. Now, we begin the next phase of our journey and look forward to welcoming you to the distillery in 2022.
Now that construction is underway, we are taking a moment to appreciate the previous life of this beautiful old mill. Ahascragh Mill dates back to the early 1800s and up until the 1950s processed grain into flour. Located in the heart of the village and steeped in history, the mill complex has remained derelict for the past 70 years.
The visitor centre will include a permanent exhibition of the salvaged mill equipment and is dedicated to celebrating the building’s history. We are inviting people to get in touch if they have special memories, helpful information or photographs of the old mill. We would love to hear from you at info@ahascraghdistillery.com
As work on the mill continues over the coming year, we will keep you up-to-date on milestones and progress.
